EXPANDA - Volksmusik in maximaler Ausdehnung

Im Herbst 2016 haben sich Julia Lacherstorfer (Geige) und Simon Zöchbauer (Trompete, Zither) einen Wunsch erfüllt, und ihre Besetzung um Klavier und Kontrabass erweitert. So gibt es nun nicht nur eine erweiterte Besetzung von Ramsch & Rosen, sondern auch eine völlig neue und erweiterte Klangwelt, deren Möglichkeiten schier grenzenlos erscheinen und neue Wege in der Entwicklung von traditioneller Musik, Improvisation und Komposition ermöglichen. Die musikalische Grundlage bilden sowohl Einflüsse aus der traditionellen Musik, sowie Kompositionen aller Mitglieder des Ensembles.

Mit David Six (Klavier) und Lukas Kranzelbinder (Kontrabass) stoßen zwei Meister der Improvisation und Komposition zur Band, die – in ihrem ganz eigenen Stil völlig ausgereift– in dieser Besetzung ihre eigene musikalische Persönlichkeit voll entfalten können. Aus dem Jazz und der Klassik kommend, bringen sie außerdem eine große Leidenschaft für ethnische und experimentelle Musik mit, und bilden so die perfekten Partner für das bestehende Duo.

Diese reduzierte Art zu Musizieren und experimentelle Klangästhetik zu erzeugen, gepaart mit sakralen und traditionellen Einflüssen, wirkt wie ein musikalischer Balsam, in den man eintauchen und nicht so schnell wiederauftauchen will. Die Musik des Quartetts zeichnet sich sowohl durch hohe Fragilität und reiche Harmonik, als auch durch starke Emotionalität bis hin zu mystischer Extase aus. Sie kann berühren und erheben, pulsieren und einfrieren, aber ganz sicher lässt sie einen niemals kalt!

Im Gegenteil. Die Musik des "Ramsch & Rosen Quartetts" ist wie eine liebevolle Umarmung.

EXPANDA - Alpine folk music at its maximum expansion

In the fall of 2016, Ramsch & Rosen (Engl.: Rummage & Roses) fulfilled their wish of expanding their instrumentation by a piano and a bass. This not only coined an "extended version" of Ramsch & Rosen but also created a completely new and expanded world of sound with unlimited possibilities, offering new ways of developing traditional music, improvisation, and composition. Their musical foundation is still made up of traditional influences as well as compositions by all members of the ensemble.

With David Six (piano) and Lukas Kranzelbinder (double bass), two masters of improvisation and composition are joining the band who – with their very own styles already fully developed – are able to freely unfold their musical personality within the group. Coming from the worlds of jazz and classical music, they also bring a great passion for ethnic and experimental music to the mix which makes them perfect partners for the existing duo.

A reduced but intense way of making music and experimental sound aesthetics along with sacral and traditional influences are like a musical home to the musicians that they can immerse into – without any hurry to resurface any time soon. Their compositions convey both fragility and rich harmonics as well as intense emotionality and, at times, even generate a mystical atmosphere. This music feels like a tender embrace.

As a duo, Ramsch & Rosen already toured Canada, Spain, Armenia, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, etc.
